Who can attend?

The camp is open to all boys and girls, entering grades 5–8th. Fencers must be USFA registered.

When is the camp?

The camp will run July 22–26, 2019, from 9 AM–4:45 PM Mon–Fri.

Check-in will be Sunday, July 21, 12–3 PM.

Lunch is included. Students should be picked up before 5 PM.

What is the cost?

The camp costs $525 per camper. Fencing equipment is available for rental at an additional charge of $40 (paid at first day check-in).

Where is the camp?

Located in a suburban campus atmosphere, the camp is held at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey in an air-conditioned gym. This is the home of the Santelli and Cetrulo Tournaments.

What weapons are offered?

Foil, epee, and saber!

How do I register a fencer?

Follow the steps below to register and pay for fencers. Please make sure your fencers/campers are a registered member of USA Fencing by the first day of camp. Registration is not complete until you pay.

Can parents observe?

Parents are welcome to observe any part of any session from the 2nd floor balcony. They are also welcome to attend the after-lunch lectures.

What is taught at the clinics?

We emphasize good form, smart tactics, and sportsmanship.

Individual lessons, weapon-specific lessons, and group instruction are given daily, focused on training in physical technique, mobility, strategy, and tactics. This inlcudes:

  • Skill-level based team drills and footwork

  • Weapon-specific training

  • Fencing-specific stretches

  • Cross-training

  • Competition preparation

Additionally, we have lectures and seminars that address valuable subjects not usually taught in other programs, including:

  • Fencing on a high school team

  • Fencing in college

  • Injury avoidance

  • Training calendars

  • Background training

  • Cross-training

  • Nutrition and hydration

Coaching staff

Our coaching staff includes USFCA certified coaches with college and varsity high school experience. We have a very low ratio of coaches to campers. Our Junior Rangers Fencing Camp coaches include:

  • Camp Director - Vincent Paragano. Coach Vince Paragano is a certified NCAA / USA Fencing professional fencing coach. Paragano is the men's and women's Head Fencing Coach at Drew University (NCAA Division III), taking over the reins of the program midway through the 2014-2015 college season. Over the past 4 full seasons, he has led the Drew Rangers to an astounding 230+ dual meet victories (among the top Division III Programs in the USA).

    Coach Paragano was recently selected by his peers as “2019 FENCING COACH OF THE YEAR” by the Middle Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association (“MACFA”). He was previously honored as the “2018 FENCING COACH OF THE YEAR” by MACFA and as the “2016 FENCING COACH OF THE YEAR” by the Eastern Women's Fencing Conference (NCAA Division III).

  • Head Coach - Jerry Duffey. Head Coach Chatham High School Varsity Fencing Team, Moniteur de Sabre, Drew Univ. Sabre Alumni. Chatham HS Fencing awards include: NJAC Conference champions, 4 consecutive NJSIAA Fencing District 1 Men's Sabre Squad District 1 Championships, NJSIAA Fencing District 1 Women's Sabre Squad Championship, Cetrulo Sabre Silver Medal, Santelli Sabre Bronze Medal, NJSIAA Men's Sabre Squad Silver Medal, NJSIAA Women's Sabre Squad Bronze Medal, Only 2019 sabre squad to send all three members to State Individual Finals and make it to second round.

  • Epee Coach - Lauren Fuchs. Chatham Epee Coach, National Women's Interscholastic Fencing Association Treasurer, Former Steven's Tech varsity epee fencer, and NJ high school fencer.

  • Foil Coach - Boris Paghiev. Chatham Foil Coach, Maldovia National Team Foil Fencer, NJSIAA Fencing District 1 Men's Foil Squad Champions

Step 1: Fill out the online camp registration form

Fill out the form for each fencer you’re registering. Then, click “Pay now” to fencers/campers, please submit this form for each. Please make sure your fencers/campers are a registered member of USA Fencing by the first day of camp. Registration is not complete until you pay.

Step 2: Pay online through our secure system

You can pay for all registrations together, including multiple fencers/campers. 

Step 3: Print and complete the forms sent via email

Medical release forms, health forms, and related camp information forms will be emailed to you upon confirmation of your registration. Bring these forms on the first day of camp.
